The existing kitchen in this sprawling ranch house needed updating and a better connection to the dining, living and family rooms. We relocated columns and removed walls and soffits to create a cleaner structure with better flow between rooms. Walnut paneling and cabinets, along with painted cabinets with laminated glass lites, add warmth and materiality. The fireplaces in the living room and family room were refinished with stainless steel mantels and integral-color concrete hearths.
